If you find my post useful, please comment!Ĭode: Please be advised the following changes to oneworld Visit South Americaīooking class for domestic sectors in AR : B classīooking class for sectors between SCL-IPC : V class I could not find any other information on the web about the difference between the two passes. I flew Iberia as it was $400 cheaper than flying with LAN. The only case that I found the LAN pass to be cheaper is if you fly to South America with LAN (as opposed to with a OneWorld partner). Once you get to a sales-rep and make it clear you want a OneWorld card, they will take your OneWorld electronic ticket number to/from South America and get back to you within 24 hours with a quote. The OneWorld ticket is V-Class whilst the LAN pass can be L-class or B-class. If they say it's the same one, they either don't know what the OneWorld pass is or they're trying to sell you a more expensive ticket. You need to make it 100% clear to the sales rep that you want the OneWorld ticket and not the LAN Pass. If you call LAN they will try and book for you their own AirPass, not the OneWorld one. In my case, 4 legs (Buenos Aires-Iguazu-Buenos Aires-Bariloche-Buenos Aires) were $624 with OneWorld and $757 with LAN AirPass (incl. OneWorld Visit South America Pass and LAN South America AirPass are two seperate programs which have nothing to do with one another. I've had no problems securing H class seats for my flights on this pass.Īfter 10+ phone calls with LAN I finally resolved the mystery around their AirPass program. Note also that I believe some of terms and conditions differ slightly between the two. But the Lan pass was cheaper anyway, so it all worked out for me. Since I was flying into South America on a BA one-way mileage ticket on LAN, and out of South America on a ex-SCL-DONE5 ticket, I wasn't (according to the AA RTW desk) eligible for the OneWorld SA pass. One other advantage of the Lan pass, is you need only your inbound ticket to be on Lan, whereas the OneWorld SA pass requires both inbound and outbound to be on a OneWorld airline on a single itinerary. Lan's pass was cheaper for me, particularly b/c I was flying into South America on a Lan ticket. OdedWhen I explored this six months ago, I could either book the OneWorld SA pass through AA's RTW desk or Lan's airpass over the Internet. How do I book it through LAN? They seem to only want to sell their own AirPass. Does anyone here have experience with OneWorld vs LAN SA pass fares?Ģ. The prices were basically the LAN AirPass prices rather than OneWorld's prices.ġ. However when I called LAN they first gave me a price in L-Class, and then the day after gave me a reservation under B-Class but not under the V-Class which is supposed to be the OneWorld AirPass class. I am trying to find out what is the difference, if any, between the OneWorld Visit South America Pass (advertised here: OneWorld) and the LAN South America AirPass (advertised here: LAN).įrom what I understand in this site ( link) there is indeed a difference in fares.
